| Description | The MQ-9 Reaper and MQ-9B are unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly referred to as drones, developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The MQ-9A Reaper is a high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) drone primarily used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It can also carry and deploy weapons such as Hellfire missiles and small-diameter bombs, enabling it to conduct strike missions. The MQ-9B is an upgraded version with enhanced capabilities, available in two primary variants: SkyGuardian, designed for land-based operations with improved sensors, increased payload capacity, and enhanced communication systems; and SeaGuardian, specifically designed for maritime operations, equipped with advanced sensors and communication systems for maritime surveillance, search and rescue, and anti-submarine warfare. The MQ-9 series of drones have proven to be highly effective in various military and civilian applications, including intelligence gathering, border patrol, disaster relief, and environmental monitoring. |
