| Description | The Dongfeng-4 (DF-4), also known as the CSS-3, is a two-stage, liquid-fueled, road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by China. It entered service in the late 1970s and was a significant advancement in China’s strategic missile capabilities. The DF-4 has a range of approximately 4,500-7,000 kilometers, allowing it to reach targets across much of Asia and parts of Europe. It carries a single nuclear warhead and is designed for a silo-based launch. While less numerous than some other Chinese ICBMs, the DF-4 remains an important component of China’s nuclear arsenal. It has undergone upgrades over the years, improving its accuracy and reliability. |
