| Description | The Dongfeng-11 (DF-11), also known as the CSS-7, is a Chinese short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) playing a key role in China’s conventional military capabilities. It’s a solid-fueled, single-stage missile, enabling rapid deployment and launch. The DF-11 has an estimated range of around 300 km, making it suitable for targeting locations within a relatively close theater of operations. It is primarily designed for conventional strikes, carrying high-explosive or other conventional warheads. While its primary role is conventional, the possibility of it carrying a nuclear warhead exists, adding a strategic dimension. The DF-11 is road-mobile, enhancing its survivability and making it more challenging for adversaries to locate and neutralize. This road mobility increases its tactical flexibility. |
